New Releases From Smashbox

I was recently lucky enough to be invited along to the Smashbox Light It Up event, where I got to meet Smashbox Pro Artist Will Malherbe as well as so many lovely bloggers and the PR team. We sipped on delicious Light It Up cocktails, inspired by the new holiday gift packs (out now - I'll tell you a bit more about them below) and heard about other new releases from Smashbox. Keep reading to hear all about them!

Colour Correcting Sticks* RRP: $45.00 each (pictured above): These super creamy and blendable sticks come in four shades; green to reduce redness, lavender to brighten yellow tones and peach for lighter skin and orange for darker skin to brighten when you're tired. I have been obsessed with the green stick! In terms of discolouration, my biggest issue is definitely redness. Previously I haven't really experimented with colour correcting because I figured it probably wouldn't do much more than a regular concealer would. Wrong! It actually makes such a difference, and I find I'm using less foundation because after colour correcting it's just not necessary to use as much. They are very easy to use, I just draw a few short lines where I need it (typically around my nose, chin and on blemishes) and blend it out with my finger and follow with foundation as usual (just less!).

Studio Skin 24 Hour Concealer* RRP: $55.00 each: The first thing I like about these concealers is the fact that they have wands for application. I find concealers that you have to squeeze or pump out SO inconvenient to use, so having a wand to just swipe it straight on is always a plus (of course, I wouldn't recommend using the wand directly on your skin if you are using it on a breakout, for hygiene purposes). It is quite a thin but nice and opaque formula, so you don't need to use too much. It wears well and didn't crease throughout the day.

Photo Op Eye Shadow Single* RRP: $44.00 each (the shade pictured above is Nude): This is a great everyday taupey shade, perfect by itself, or used as a transition shade. It didn't blend out quite as easily as I thought it would (it took a little extra effort to get a seamless finish), but it is still a good quality eyeshadow with good pigmentation. There are 10 singles available in a range of different shades from nudes to more dramatic shades including shimmers and mattes.

And last but not least, the Light It Up holiday sets! There are six different sets available, pictured below. They would make amazing gifts (to someone else, or yourself!) as they are, or you could break them up and make multiple little gifts from each set. For example, you could break up the set of three little palettes and give one to each friend!

Not only are they super great value and make for great gifts, they also come in reusable packaging. Each set comes in a sturdy acrylic box that you could reuse to store makeup, jewellery, makeup brushes etc. I think that's such a cool idea because holiday collections usually always have pretty packaging, but most of the time you can't really do anything with it after and end up having to throw it away!
