Summer Fridays CC Me Serum - Why You Need It

While we were on lockdown my skin went all kinds of crazy (stress and junk food will do that apparently), so I started doing a bit more research into what my skin needed. It can be a bit of a nightmare working out a good skincare routine. There are just so many products out there and so many opinions it's hard to know where to start. But, luckily for you, I've done some research and found a serum I LOVE, and you might just love it too.

Vitamin C serums are all the rage at the moment, and I can see why. Vitamin C is basically a miracle ingredient that will do a whole bunch of great things for your skin. It helps with wrinkles (did you know we start degenerating from the age of 26? My ACC lecturer used to love to remind us that just about every lecture - sometimes more than once), it brightens your skin tone and can help reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation caused by things like sunspots, etc. It's hydrating, it can help with sunburn. What CAN'T it do?

I'm keen for help with just about all of that. After looking into the options available, I decided that the Summer Fridays CC Me Serum was the one I wanted to try. Just about everyone seemed to love it, said the scent was nice, that it didn't feel sticky, etc. Well, they weren't wrong.

Let's start with the scent. It smells like something familiar, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe like some kind of candy? But not in a super hyper sweet way. I use it during the day (but some research does suggest that it might be just as good if not better to use it at night - maybe I'll try that next). I use the tiniest little bit and tap it in. It is a super light-weight thin consistency so easily absorbs. I did read about some people having issues with it pilling on their skin. That could possibly be due to rubbing it in - I haven't had any issues with pilling at all. I also wait about a minute just to make sure it has a chance to fully absorb and do its thing before I put a moisturiser on top.

This is one of those products where I felt like I saw an instant difference - I swear my skin just looked healthier straight away. But, the main positive effect I've had from this is that it has drastically improved my rosacea. I get redness and dryness around my nose due to rosacea (which constantly fluctuates, some days it's terrible, others it'll be ok), but for the last 10 days or so I've had zero dryness, and significantly less redness, so it's definitely doing something!

I have zero complaints. It can feel a touch sticky (if I'm being super picky) when you first put it on, but after it quickly absorbs I don't feel like my skin is sticky at all.

It definitely falls into the category of luxury skincare at $113 for a 30ml bottle from Mecca, but when you can actually see a visible difference in your skin and know it's working, it's totally worth the investment.

What is your fave serum?
