Too Faced Melted Kisses Holiday Set: A Review

(The bag shown in the picture is from the Too Faced brush set)

For Christmas 2014 Too Faced came out with a set of 4 of their melted lipsticks in a set of four deluxe sample size versions.

How does Too Faced describe them? "Get the staying power of a stain, the intense colour of a liquid lipstick and the high shine of a gloss with Melted"

I agree.

The colour is very long lasting, like a lip stain, and remains after the lipstick has eventually rubbed off through eating and drinking. The colour is nice and opaque, just like a regular lipstick. They do have a good shine to them until they wear off and you are left with the stain.

The colours in this set: Melted Nude, Melted Peony, Melted Fuchsia and Melted Berry.

Melted Nude: Not my favorite colour. It's a little too dark on my skin tone. And it has an almost yellowy-beige tone to it, which I'm not a fan of.

Melted Peony: This is a really pretty light pink shade. It would look good with most if not all skin tones.

Melted Fuchsia: This shade is exactly what it says. Typical bright fuchsia colour. Nice and vibrant. Possibly my favorite colour in this set.

Melted Berry: A rich, dark, cranberry colour. Stains really well.

The shades shown are: (from top to bottom), Melted Berry, Melted Fuchsia, Melted Peony and Melted Nude

The colours in the set are not exactly unique, but they are great colours. They are generally universally flattering, with the exception of Melted Nude, which I think would be quite hit and miss among people.

What don't I like about the Melted lipsticks? The applicator. The applicator is like a fuzzy tip, where you squeeze the tube and the product comes through. Personally, I find it hard to get a nice clean line around your lips with it. The applicator creates fuzzy edges. You could use a lip liner, to help fix this, but I don't like to use lip liners with liquid lipsticks. Another option could be to squeeze some out and use a lip brush. But the product would definitely be so much better if they had used a doe foot applicator instead.

Overall this set was worth it, it was a good way to try out the formula of the lipsticks and a selection of colours for a reasonable price.

Even though this set is no longer available, you can still get the full sized versions (in different colours) from Sephora for $21USD (if you live in NZ, you can use Shipito to get them here). They currently have 18 different shades available.

Until next time...

  4. I can't get Toofaced where I live either (in New Zealand), so I have to buy online. But...a lot of sites don't ship here, so I have to get creative with shipping forwarding services. There might be something like that available in your area?
